A GREAT MARVEL: Small Group Sessions
What is it about superheroes that we find so fascinating? How is it that their characters continue to inspire generation after generation? How is it that their stories never get old?
Superheroes are the ones who stand for what is right and defend those in need. They, in many ways, reveal the qualities of virtue and inspire us as we are drawn into their stories. Heroes protect what is good and provide for us examples of what it looks like to do the same.
A Great Marvel uses examples of different superheroes to introduce youth to the four cardinal virtues and inspire them to grow in those virtues in their own lives.
12-14 year old Sunday Morning Small Groups 10-11 AM Middle Level of the ARC
February 27th- DOCTOR STRANGE: How Do I Choose What is Good?
March 13th- CAPTAIN MARVEL: How Do I Treat Others Fairly?
March 27th- BLACK WIDOW: What Do I Do When it is Hard to Do the Right Thing?
April 10th- ENDGAME: How Do I Live a Virtuous Life?
April 24th- HOLY HUMOR An EDGE Issue Session on the Power of Humor
Lenten Small Group SessionsMarch 6, March 20, April 3 (10-11 am upper level of ARC): These small group sessions invite youth into a deeper understanding of the season of Lent. The three sessions will explore the familiar traditions of the season while calling youth to examine their own prayer lives and relationship with God. (Minimum Group Size 5; Maximum Group Size 20).
Middle School Social Nights
Middle School (6-7-8th Grade) Social Nights 7:00-8:30 PM March 11 & April 8: The goal of these Social Nights is for the youth to meet new people and build up community while playing fun games. (Minimum Group Size 10; Maximum Group Size 50).
Middle School Retreat
Inside Out Middle School (6-7-8th Grade) Retreat Noon-3 PM on April 24th: This retreat is designed to help middle school youth not to see themselves or others just by their outward appearance. This is a hard thing to do with all of the pressures that come from society and sometimes the pressure we place upon ourselves. The idea of this retreat is to have the youth begin by looking at their inward appearance and help them to not just see what physical attributes they have, but also the dignity they possess as a son or daughter of God. (Minimum Group Size 10; Maximum Group Size 50)
